Westfield Mall, Union Square
It’s pretty strange going to such a cool restaurant in the mall, but Martin Yan’s bold flavors make you not notice the view of Vans across from your table. Anytime you’re Christmas or birthday shopping, stop here on your way out to refuel from all those shopping bag bicep curls.
Bang Bang Chicken Wings – I could not say enough good things about these wings. I would go back and have 4 to 10 orders of them. Perfectly crispy and doused in an insanely flavorful sauce.
Spicy Seafood Dumplings – The most interesting item we ordered. The dumpling wrapper was made from spinach and the sauce was similar to the chicken wings, but a little more tart.
Wild Boar Scissor Cut Noodles – The style of noodle was new for me and had a nice density. The wild boar was cooked as beef usually is in Chinese cuisine, thinly sliced and slightly chewy.
Hot & Sour Soup – Sneakily spicy and delicious. Would have loved even more tofu.
Peking Roast Duck – The duck skin was tasty, but I’m not the biggest fan of steamed buns. Baked baked baked!
