Southpaw is a trendy BBQ joint with great food, cocktails and interior decorating. Perfect spot for date night if you don't mind getting a little saucy (and sauced, the cocktails are giant) or a group dinner because the portions are meant for sharing. We went for my roommate's birthday dinner, which was perfect because our group of gals like to drink to much whiskey and eat too much meat. Just girls being girls!
Natchez - Like the name as much as the taste of these. Warm, thick potato chips with pulled pork, black-eyed peas, pimento bechamel and hot sauce. Good gracious!
Creole Mustard Potato Salad - My eyes went straight to this when I looked at the menu. I want to try to recreate it at home!
Black Pepper Brie Mac & Cheese - Not too strong of a brie flavor, but just enough to give it bite.
Hamhock & cheddar grit cake - Fried grits with cheese melted on top. Could be called The Gritcheeseburger.
Baked Beans - Normally not a big fan, but these were dark and delicious.
Cocktails - Served in oversized mason jars and will get the job done.
Duckfat Toffee Sundae with Dark Chocolate Sauce - Lord have mercy.
Fried green tomatoes & ricotta w/pickled pepper salad & remoulade - Shame on us for ordering vegetables.
Dry rubbed & smoked Hampshire pork ribs - Give these a 6/10 on the rib scale. They were a bit too fatty for my taste - next time I'm getting the beef ribs to see if I like 'em more.
