For our lunch stop of the birthday wine country adventure, we went to Barndiva. Right off the main square, you walk through a beautiful archway of flowers and branches to the entrance of the restaurant. It has a huge, sparkling bar in the center, with front and backyard seating. Everything on the menu was perfect for a spring wine day, but Dan and I ordered the two biggest sandwiches possible - the Barndiva Burger and the Dungeness Crab BLT. When we return to Healdsburg to pick up the next installment of my wine club membership, we're going back here for dinner.
Dungeness Crab BLT - I got it without the B because bacon is always a really strong flavor for me and I wanted to taste mostly crab. My strategy worked brilliantly. The crab was fresh, the bread was soft and doughy, the additions (butter lettuce, chopped beets, aioli) were nice compliments.
Barndvia Burger - Since I moved to SF I've been on a burger binge, and this is one of the best. I also loved the homeade fries that came with it. They were shaped like Ruffles potato chips, but tasted like french fries!
Goat Cheese Croquettes - Fried balls of goat cheese covered in warm honey and specks of lavender. I wish my mom could have tried these!
Bitches of Seizieme - Taking a break from the vino, I ordered this fun and bubbly cocktail. A little bit of brandy, a lot a bit of champagne.
